The Kogi State Government has condemned in strong terms the wanton destruction of Ibaji Local Government secretariat and promised to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book.
The local council secretariat was razed beyond recognition by suspected party thugs before the last elections in the state.
Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, who described those behind the action as “devil incarnates who do not mean well for the area” wondered why some persons would go the extra mile in destroying public property over an election that was to be determined by the electorates.
Speaking while assessing the reconstruction of roads damaged by last year’s floods in Ibaji Local Government Area, Awoniyi described the needless destruction as shameful, especially as it came at a time when the state government was working hard to rebuild decayed infrastructures such as roads and buildings affected by last year’s flood before the raining season across the state.
