House of Reps Places Kogi Assembly on Suspension

The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Kogi Assembly Crisis yesterday suspended the legislative proceedings of the house of Assembly.

The six-man Committee led by Honourable Muhammed Muktar Ahmed at the sitting of the members and the 16 members of the state assembly said the decision was allowing the House of Representatives to conclude its findings on the house.

The house was charged to the brim with the attendance of the 13 members of the honourable Abdullahi Bello led faction while the group was represented by three members.

Proceedings were full of allegations and counter from both sides of the members over what and what not during the impeachment.

The group of 12 who were represented by three members were are alleging that 17 people actually signed the impeachment stressing that those who later went to the other did so when it was discovered that they were not going to be given a position.

One of the three that represented the 12 group vowed that he is ready to swear to oath that one of 13 came to his house to sign the document.

But the committee chairman while summing up the proceeding lamented the absent of the clerk of house who according to him has been in contact with him but suddenly switched off his phone when the committee arrived in the house.

He warned that nobody should take law into his hands adding that various security organisations have been notified to ensure that law and order is enforced.

Mean-while 13 persons believed to have been recruited by one of the group in the house to disrupt the proceeding of the committee were arrested by the police.

Parading the suspects at the police quarters in Lokoja, the Police Deputy Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Ajayi Okasannmi said the people were drafted from Okene to Lokoja to cause crisis.

He added that the suspected were not arrested with any weapon but they are appearance portrayed their intention.
