Farmers across Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency in Kogi State have received a fresh round of agricultural implements and inputs from their representative in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulmaleek Abdulraheem Danga, in a move aimed at easing production costs and improving yields ahead of the planting season.
During the distribution over the weekend, the lawmaker noted that agriculture remains the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy, and nowhere is this truer than at the constituency level, where the majority of households rely on farming for both food and income.
“Adavi and Okehi, both predominantly agrarian communities in the Kogi Central Senatorial District, are known for the cultivation of yam, maize, cassava, rice, and vegetables, alongside cash crops such as cashew.

“Despite this agricultural strength, farmers in the area continue to grapple with persistent challenges, including the rising cost of inputs, limited access to modern tools, post-harvest losses, and low yields caused by pests and declining soil fertility,” he said.
The distribution exercise is described as a direct intervention designed to boost productivity, cut production costs, and strengthen rural livelihoods across the constituency. Items distributed to farmers include: 500kg NPK Fertilizers, Knapsack Sprayers, Herbicides and Insecticides.

He said taken together, these items form a complete “input package” that equips a farmer to prepare land, plant, maintain, and protect crops throughout the growing season — addressing several of the constituency’s most pressing agricultural bottlenecks in one coordinated effort.
Stakeholders within the constituency have welcomed the initiative as a timely response to the practical needs of farmers, particularly as the planting season places increased pressure on households already contending with the high cost of agricultural inputs nationwide.
