Inundated with complaints from the public over the outrageous and unjustified increase in price of food items, electronics and other household materials in markets, the Chairman of Okene local government council of Kogi state, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad Tuesday convened a stakeholders meeting to discuss the ugly trend.

The meeting had in attendance the leadership of Kogi Central Community Development Association, ward heads, traditional rulers, market union and representatives of youth council.

After series of complaints from the consumers and submissions by the traders union, it was evidently clear traders increase prices of commodities and other essentials services without justification.

In a swift reaction, the council chairman condemned such development and called for immediate reversal.

He urged traders to henceforth desist from unilateral increase of price of items without justification.

Hon. Abdulrazaq subsequently set up a 7-man price monitoring committee chaired by Yahaya Musari to ensure prices of commodities in markets within the jurisdiction of the council are affordable and reflect what is obtainable in other neighbouring location of cognate status.
