Our political rights shape the world we live in and allow us to speculate how different the world can be. Considerably, Governor Yahaya Bello factors and the momentousness attributed to them, have truly brought Kogi State to a divergent point of scrutiny on the national scene.
Kogi State has come of age, such that the “budding” parlance ascribed to it should now be viewed old fangled and a tiresome contrivance.
Undoubtedly, numerous successful and unsuccessful developmental strides under different administrations have navigated the lengthiness of the confluence state, however, examining the GYB factors in the seemingly murky political equation of the state cannot be overemphasized for the umpteenth time.
At 44, GYB’s youthfulness resonates with his age, which exemplifies a perfect trustee of the prosperity of Kogi State and Nigeria, going by the crop of Governors since 2015. Youths around the world have been known for ageless accomplishments in different spheres of life. Stereotypically, driving the entity now called Nigeria to independence was no mere feat and could come to fruition through a set of very youthful persons: Tafawa Balewa (47), Anthony Enahoro (37) and the likes. Today, echoes of the activities of then youthful leaders continue to reverberate in evergreen manners across Nigeria’s divides.
Remarkably, GYB’s antecedents have shown only too well, his watchful readiness and resolve to seize the primed natural stage of human vibrancy as once done by the aforementioned leaders. As a bridge builder and detribalized leader, he has precisely mapped and decimated his structural and functional base with a robust throng of people from diverse and even belligerent cultural and religious backgrounds, driven by his stance on equity, fairness, justice, and a penchant for meritorious rewards.
His virtues and principles are exemplified by his first three appointments immediately after his inauguration on January 27, 2016, which were spread across the three Senatorial Districts, and other appointments till date. This unparalleled action has endeared him to millions of Kogi State citizens and will cruise him to victory come November 16.
GYB’s sense of statehood brewed by years of impeccable education and experience across the boards has continued to reposition Kogi State among its contemporaries and is panegyrized by most distinguished personalities world wide as the auspicious harbinger of the golden years. In pursuance of a well crafted New Direction Agenda, the unabated criminal tendencies in the past have witnessed a more than equal match under GYB’s watch through the provision of varied synergised, adequate, functional security apparatuses that have made Kogi the most peaceful state.
GYB’s administration has brought an unprecedented infrastructural touch to the health sector, couple with the provisions of state of the art equipment and services, training and retraining of staff. The free maternity and emergency health care systems are unparalleled track records, realisable only by considerable, bold feats.
GYB’s administration has created and activated a bubbling environment for the smooth implementation of the Agricultural Renaissance Policy of the Federal Government that aims at ensuring food security and promoting non-oil sector for economic transformation through excellent extension and research services and provision of readily accessible inputs.
GYB has also revamped and rejuvenated the education, good governance and employment reforms of the state with a forward ever and backward never matching order akin to a battle commander foreshadowing total transformation and victory.
As Kogi State citizenry and indeed the nation at large continue to struggle with soon to end economic pangs, GYB devoted himself with unprecedented vigour to practical philanthropy that provides generous, speedy succour to the helpless. Thousands of poor and vulnerable people have benefitted from the multi-million naira government-run charity set up by the governor. At a time political eulogy is a common parlance adorning our national dailies, generated through heavy funding and an ever ready tool in the hands of political pundits, GYB advised his friends, associates and well wishers to rather donate such funds for the up keep of the poor and vulnerable; a political midas touch for the poor and vulnerable.
Indeed, there is no gainsaying the fact that the factors orchestrated by Governor Yahaya Bello (GYB) are a stabilizing source of control for the political machinations of his second tenure, which will emerge with a reassured resolve and commitment that will project Kogi State as a powerful player on the national scene. Long live Kogi state.
