In the build up to the forthcoming 2019 general elections, a lot of aspirants jostling to represent Adavi constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly in the next dispensation, have already gone to the trenches to prepare them for the titanic battle ahead. But, when searching for the most credible, trustworthy, accessible, idea-driven, and service-oriented aspirant, Hon. Ilyas Asuku Ishaq, is one person that perfectly fits the bill.
Today, the youthful new breed politician, is a perfect example of ‘the not too young to run’ political philosophy that is currently gaining currency in our political environment. It goes without saying that Hon. Asuku, who is a successful businessman, has built a reputation as a reference point in philanthropy, humility, and exemplary leadership over the years. True, Hon. Asuku is indeed a politician imbued with unassailable ideas that would help him to make a huge difference in the politics of Adavi, and Kogi State in general if he gets the mandate of his people.
Before his foray into active politics, Hon. Asuku, a well cultured and focused young man, has established himself within a short period of his experience as a successful businessman, imbued with a good head and a good heart. The 35 year old man has sufficiently equipped himself with the desired intellectual credentials and leadership capacity that will enhance his performance as a lawmaker, if he gets the mandate of his people come 2019.
Incidentally, Hon. Asuku, is my younger brother that i can vouch for his good content of character and leadership quality that Adavi community deserves at a critical time like this. As a veteran Journalist and Public Relations Expert, I am fully convinced that Hon. Asuku has all it takes to discharge his legislative duties creditably and also deliver people-oriented democracy dividends to his constituency. It is instructive and noteworthy that his philanthropic postures over the years have nothing to do with his political ambition. The act of philanthropy is a natural trait that runs in the family of our patriarch (Late Siyaka Kokoro Bello) of blessed memory. It is also evident in the remarkable legacy of philanthropy of our late brother Pastor Steven Otaru Ishaq (of blessed memory), who lived a purposeful and impactful lifeworthy of emulation, before he passed on last year in an unfortunate incident.
Hon. Asuku, who is a frontline aspirant, has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the prestigious University of Ilorin, Kwara State and has also acquired sufficient leadership experience as a former Special Adviser (political affairs) in the cabinet of the immediate past sole administrator of Adavi local government, a valuable experience that will put him in good stead as a lawmaker in the hallowed chamber of the Kogi State House of Assembly if he gets the mandate of Adavi electorate.
Against this background therefore, I can assure the good and hospitable people of Adavi community, where I have spent over fifty years of my life, that Hon. Asuku, who is an employer of labour, can be trusted with their mandate. It is evidently clear that he deserves their support at a critical time like this in our political history, so that he can contribute his quota in the developmental efforts to take Adavi community to greater heights.
Hon. Asuku, who is contesting on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has a formidable political structure on ground to launch a successful outing in the forthcoming general election. The sport-loving politician with a solid background as a footballer in his formative years is happily married and blessed with children.
