The state Commissioner of Police, Saidu Madawaki, confirmed the incident while speaking with journalists in Lokoja yesterday.
He vowed to unravel the misery surrounding the death of traditional ruler and former head of the vigilance group of the community in Egume.
He explained that the suspected assailants had stormed the palace of the royal father, whisked him away, shot him severally and his corpse was dragged to the highway.
The police boss also disclosed that after the gruesome murder, the assailants went to the house of the head of vigilance group in the town, Mohammed Wada, who was observing the 8pm Muslim Is’ahi prayer and killed him, too.
Madawaki said when he visited the scene of the incident, there was bloodstain on the ground where the chief was killed to the main highway. The praying mat of the late Wada was soaked with blood.
He said that the corpses had deposited at mortuary.
Edimeh was an ace broadcaster before he retired home from FRCN to be the Amana Attah Ojikpadala Egume in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State in 2010.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists has condemned the gruesome of murder.
The state NUJ Chairman, Ali Atabor, in a statement signed by him and made available to journalists in Lokoja yesterday, described the death of the veteran journalist as shocking.
He called on the government to improve on the security apparatus of the nation to check the reign of terror and unwarranted attacks on innocent citizens.
