The Kogi East frontline senatorial candidate on the platform of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), Comrade Amade Godwin Edime has made an open declaration that he sees every Igala and Bassa man or woman as a Star.

Comrade Edime made this known while playing host to a group of Igala professionals who paid him a courtesy visit at his Anyigba residence on Sunday.

In his words, “I have always seen and known Igala people as Stars right from my childhood and even in history. But the question is, what has happened and what is happening now that our people have been marginally driven to the back seat in the scheme of things of this Nation?”

Although he lamented the prevailing gloom across the length and breadth of the present socio geographical landscape of the Igala/Bassa ethnic nationalities, describing it as worrisome, the Comrade averred that all will soon be a thing of the past.

Expressing an infrequent kind of optimism that’s difficult to find in recent time among so many prominent personalities of the Igala/Bassa extraction, Comrade Edime assured the professionals that a new wave of passionate and selfless service to humanity devoid of any glimmer of the consciousness of socio-economic class variation was about to be introduced into our body polity.

He stated: “We must regain our place in destiny and vote for the party that is symbolic of that shared destiny – APDA. And aligning with a party that has Star as its logo is prophetic. I see our people as Stars and Stars we shall be among all shades of ethnic groupings in the country.”

Responding, the leader of the group, Engr. Martins Onuche, pledged the commitment of the group to the Comrade’s ambition, designating it “a call for the rescue of the Igala/Bassa nation” which he said had so far been under siege by gluttonous politicians.

According to the Engineer, “We will mobilise all the professionals within and outside Igala/Bassa land to take this course on their heads. We know your antecedents as a social crusader and a defender of the defenseless. So, we won’t rest on our oars until your victory is ensured come 2019.”

Comrade Edime hence charged the group to be up and doing and not tread the old path where money bags usually came to buy the consciences and votes of the people and shortly afterwards regroup with their Lagos and Abuja class-conscious men whose interest is only to amass more wealth which ordinarily belongs to our people.
