Guber Poll: Politicians Training, Arming Private Militia in Kogi – Police

Yhe Police have alleged some unnamed political actors are training and arming private militias ahead of the November 16 Kogi governorship election.

Making the stunning disclosure, on Thursday, in Lokoja, the state capital, the representative of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, Deputy Inspector General (Operations), Abdulmalik Ali, stated this on Thursday in Lokoja.

He warned the said report should remain in the imagination of anyone nursing it, saying that the police was fully ready to ensure that the governorship poll in the state, is conducted under a secured atmosphere.

He warned that no one was above the law, and as such anyone caught violating it will be apprehended and made answerable for any infringement.

“From intelligence gathering, we discovered that some political parties are recruiting, training and arming individuals, to cause mayhem,” he had said.

He however assured that the police will deal decisively with whoever is caught indulging in such act.

The police boss, who was attending the “Stakeholders Meeting with the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), assured that the police will deliver on its mandate to Nigerians, and by ensuring the security of lives and property, at all times.

He called on people of the state, particularly politicians, not to engage in activities that can breach the peace, before, during and after the election.
