A group, Ebira Progressives (EP), has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello allegedly joining forces to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson, Abdulhamid Itopa, the group said it gathered reliably that Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong reportedly drove Yahaya Bello to Hilton hotel two nights ago, sparking speculation about their intentions.
According to the Abdulhamid, Bello has invited Kogi Central stakeholders to a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, to discuss the recall process.
“This development comes on the heels of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual allegations against the Senate President.
“The situation is unfolding rapidly, with many awaiting the outcome of tomorrow’s meeting,” Abdulhamid said.
Background
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has been at the centre of controversy, with the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions recommending her suspension for six months, despite a Federal High Court in Abuja issuing an order stopping the former from taking disciplinary action against the female lawmaker.
