Governor Yahaya Bello has approved the take over of UBE Girls Secondary School, Odu Okpegede in Dekina Local Government Area by Kogi state government.

The school is to be overseen by the Kogi State Science Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM).

The Governor signed the approval on Friday and directed the Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones; Chairman of STETSCOM, Mrs Cecilia Cook; and that of SUBEB, Mr Abdullahi Ndalaye, to effect the takeover and handover.

The objective of the takeover was for full utilization of the facilities by the community and the state at large.

UBE Girls School Odu Okpegede was one of the schools build by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan in each of the senatorial districts of the country to breach the gap in girls education in Nigeria.

The project which was abandoned had been massively renovated by the state government upon approval from the Universal Basic Education Commission Abuja.
