Africa Youth Leadership Initiative (AYLI) has condemned the inhuman treatment meted out to Ms. Shalimar Abbuisi, a Belgian citizen, by the Ghanian Government, in the strongest terms possible.

The Initiative is alarmed by the gradual descent of African states—more recently, the unfortunate situation in Ghana— into banana republic where there seem to be zero tolerance for dissents leading to abuse of human rights of the citizens.

The Initiative wishes to draw the attention of the world, especially the United Nations (UN), African Union (AU) and ECOWAS to the infringement of the human rights of a Belgian citizen by the name Shalimar Abbuisi, who is also a resident of Ghana.

The Initiative maintains that the rights of Ms Shalimar, a former Belgian beauty pageant and an OAP, were completely violated. The charges against her were hilarious at best. The Ghanian Government simply proved that human rights and the rights of foreigners don’t matter to Ghana as a country.

The forceful repatriation of Ms Shalimar Abbuisi was said to have happened on December 19, 2023 when she was forcefully returned to her native Belgium on Air Brussels Flight No. SN 319.

Ms. Abbuisi’s involvement in charity work and her passion for humanity led her to engage in various humanitarian initiatives in various countries of the world especially in Ghana.

Ms Abbuisi’s travails with the Ghanaian Government which led to her forced repatriation from Ghana began when she founded the New Force, which centered around developing not only Ghana but the entire African continent. New Force focuses on innovation, job creation, and empowering the youth.

The African Youth Leadership Initiative demand that the Ghanian Government tenders an apology to Ms Shalimar Abbuisi without any further delay and to release her seized belongings forthwith.
