The former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Abdullahi Bello has commend the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the the All Progressive Congress (APC) for adopting the indirect primary election for the selection of its flag bearer for November 16 governorship election in the state.
A statement, signed by the former speaker and made available to journalists in Lokoja, said that the last Friday decision of the party national body as it relates to the build up to the Nov 16, 2019 gubernatorial election in Kogi State is commendable.
According to him, the decision of the NWC is in line with the resolution of the State Executive Committee and stakeholders of the party who met on 15th of June, 2019 where the proposal for the indirect mode of primary was voted for.
Speaking further he said, “This will make the party primary election less cumbersome, free of acrimony and easier to manage.
“There’s no doubt that as we prepare for this crucial election, our party remain the strongest in Kogi State and with the starling performance of His Excellency, Alh Yahaya Bello, victory is surely a settled matter, as salary/pension issues are becoming a thing of the past and many projects are on the verge of being commissioned.”
Recall that the NWC of the All Progressive Congress last Friday adopted the indirect primary method for the selection of its standard bearer for the November 16 Governorship election in Kogi.
However, controversy has continued to trail this decision, as some stakeholders have since rejected the position of the the national leaders of the party, calling for direct primary.
