The Kogi State government has deployed town criers to sensitize the people living in the flood prone areas to relocate and avert a repeat of the 2012 flood experience in the state.

The state also directed all affected Council Chairmen, Traditional Rulers and other stakeholders to deliberate on the need to put finishing touches to the establishment of relief camps.

The Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi who is also the Chairman Flood Committee stated this yesterday during the committee meeting that government would take the issues of security serious in the relief camps this year as  those who are not displaced would not be housed in the camps.

Awoniyi who was represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Abdulrahman Wuya, called on people living in flood prone areas to move to higher ground before as their safety would not be guaranteed.
