Flood Disbursement Committee of Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State have debunked media report alleging that flood victims in the area were treated unfairly in the disbursement of flood intervention money.

The committee who spoke through the Director Local Government administration, Mr.  Echejo John; Chairman, disbursement committee for the area, Sadiq Agunna Ichapi Paul and Abu Lukeman some of the affected persons said fifteen Million naira was disbursed against the alleged seven million naira.

Addresing newsmen in Lokoja, The DLG of Ajaokuta disclosed that the alleged seven million report was false, and channelled to tarnish the name of the state and the Local Government area.

He noted that having received the N15 million,  the committee shared the monies to three groups of A, B, C. With N5. 880million, N8.58 miilion and N735, N150 thousand disbursed to the groups accordingly.

The amount which he noted was an assistance, is the first Phase support from the State government adding that more palliative intervention should be expected.

Also speaking, Alhaji Sadiq Agunna, Chairman disbursement Committee maintained that the government has done so much to the victims from the area, wondered why the campaign to smear its good intention.

The chairman called on those peddling wrong information concerning the activities of the government as it has to do with the flood to have a rethink as schools, roads and other infrastructures destroyed during the flood are currently being addressed.

In his remarks, Ichapi Paul and Abu Lukeman, Members of the disbursement sub- committee and also affected by the flood said they carried out their assignment with utmost sincerity adding that the One hundred and Eighty persons affected in Gadumo Community were given what rightfully belonged to them.

Ichapi Paul commended the efforts of the government in ensuring that they did not lose all, however appealed for more support at relocating from flood plain areas in view of NIMET’s prediction of heavy rainfall for 2013.
