Federal Mortgage Bank Commissions New Complex in Lokoja

The establishment of a new office complex of the Federal Mortgage Bank in Lokoja has been described as a testimony of glowing confidence the business community has in the state.

Capt Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor stated this at the commissioning of a two storey office complex for the Kogi State Federal Mortgage Bank, Lokoja.

The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, said the building of the new office complex is in line with the vision to transform the state in all sectors of the state’s economy.

While noting that the establishment of the office complex will bring the services of the bank closer to the people and the state government, said his administration is working tirelessly in meeting the housing deficit.

The governor added that the FMBN complex will further assist the housing stock of the state in new opportunities for mass provision of houses.

The efforts to provide housing by the present administration, Capt Wada explained will also be complemented by the visible presence of the bank in Lokoja.

Capt Wada said the state government since the creation of the state, remained the sole provider of housing, called for complementary efforts by the bank, disclosing that the present administration is resolute in ensuring that shelter is given a pride of place in policy making.

In his speech, Elder Bisi Ogunjobi, Chairman of Board of Directors, FMBN, represented by Mrs Eucharia Alozie  disclosed that Kogi State has so far contributed more than N1.92b into the coffers of the bank while the bank has equally financed estate development projects in the state to the tune of N3billion.

The Bank the Chairman added has also contributed to estate development loans for the construction of about 1000 housing units across the state.

He added that the bank has granted to Kogi investment and property limited for a 350 housing units: city point global investment limited 400 housing units and Philkruz limited 250 housing units, disclosing that the gesture is in line with the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Board Chairman commended the Kogi State Government for the harmonious relationship the bank enjoys, disclosing that Kogi State remains an active participant in the National Housing Fund Scheme, through contributions by its workers and self employed citizens.

The Board Chairman described the commissioning of the new office complex as a testimony of the cooperation and goodwill existing between FMBN, the State Government and the good people of the state.

Highlights of the commissioning was goodwill messages from stakeholders as the Nigerian Labour Congress,Commissioner for Lands and Housing who commended the FMBN for the new office complex and the cutting of the tape by the representatives of the State Governor.
