Political office holders in Kogi State has been tasked to make themselves accessible to their constituency; as that is one of the rudiment for good democracy to thrive.
A one-time Special Assistant on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Niyi Olayemi stated this in Lokoja while speaking with newsmen on the need for the politics class in the state to change their mode of operation.
Olayemi also a former House of Representatives aspirant singled out the state ALGON Chairman, Taofiq Isa as one of the few political office holders in the state who made himself accessible to his constituent, urged others to followed the ALGON Chairman footpath of quality leadership.
Olayemi said in just few months on the saddle of leadership as chairman of Ijumu Local Government area of the state, Taofiq has surpassed the record of many politicians in same capacity who have served the people at the grassroots.
He noted that the ALGON boss has also keyed into the ‘new direction’ of the state government in terms of policies decision, urged his colleagues to reach out to their constituency in likes manner.
He said, “His (Taofiq) administration has equally balanced provision of infrastructure with human development. Taofiq is a politician who will remain relevant in the hearts of the people for a long time to come.
“While other politicians use the yuletide to travel out of their constituency, Taofiq used the period to criss-cross the five local government area of Kogi west, touching lives, feeling the people’s pulse and preaching the message of governor Bello’s ‘new Direction’s policies.”
The businessman turned politician urged other political class to see their position as an avenue to be the true representative of their people and not for ego boosting or means of enriching their personal gains.
