Ex-Deputy Gov Philip Salawu’s Son Marries Water Resources Minister’s Daughter

The Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi has described love as a vital ingredient necessary for a successful marriage.

Awoniyi stated this at the wedding service between Tabitha Ochekpe, daughter of the Minister of Water Resources, Serah Ochekpe and Joseph Omeiza, son to the former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Philip Salawu held in Abuja at the Family Worship Centre.

Awoniyi described marriage as an institution that must be cherished and protected as it remain the only institution that when successful produces quality leaders the nation requires as well as creates a better society for people to live in.

Awoniyi urged the newly wedded couple to follow the footsteps of their parents whose life style attracted personalities from all works of life to the church service.

In his homely at the Church service, Pastor Wale Afelumo, Resident Pastor Family Worship Centre, Wuye, Abuja at the Church Service said success in marriage is not by magic but happens when couples obey biblical principles.

Pastor Afelumo called on the couple to run their marriage lives by remaining in the presence of God.

He urged them to ensure chastity, submit to the word of God and to always show love and comfort one another.

The Church service was followed by a wedding reception held at the Thisday Dome, was attended by Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan, wife to the President.

The President’s wife urged the couple to always play, pray and plan together for them to have a successful home.

The Wife to the President   called on the couple to avoid third party interference in their affairs, appealed to them to always learn to resolve their differences as husband and wife as no perfect marriage ever exist without challenges.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Prof Jerry Gana, who was the Chairman at the reception, called for prayers for the newly wedded couple, also called on the couple to see marriage as a new beginning towards fulfilling an institution established by God.

In his response, the father of the groom, Chief Philip Salawu, thanked God for the success of the wedding and prayed for God to bless the wedding.

Highlight of the wedding reception which was attended by several dignitaries including Capt Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor, Jonah Jang of Plateau State, State Deputy Governors, serving and former Ministers, serving and former Members of the National Assembly, was the supervision of the cutting of the wedding cake supervised by Dame Patience Jonathan.
