The Igala Youth Council (IYC) has called on all ethnic groups in Kogi state to promote unity and peace and desist from acts that can cause disharmony.

National President of IYC, Hon. Collins Onogu Monday, made the call in Lokoja on Saturday.

He condemned the call on Kogi state government by Ebira People Association (EPA) to introduce rotational system for the Chairmanship of Kogi State Council of Chiefs.

He accused EPA of trying to cause disharmony among the people of the state with the call and called on the Commissioner of Police in the Kogi to monitor activities of groups that are laying foundations for crisis in the state.

Collins stated that chairmanship of the council of chiefs is not on rotational basis in any of the 19 northern states and wondered why Kogi state will be an exception.

He counseled that the interest of Kogi state should be the ultimate goal and not the interest of any ethnic group.
