Encomiums As Prof Francis Idachaba Goes Home

The ancient town of Idah, the traditional headquarters of Igala Kingdom, today received an influx of people across the globe as the remains of a one time Vice Chancellor of the Kogi State University, Initiator and Founder of Igala Education Summit and Chairman of Kogi State Blueprint Drafting Committee, Prof Francis Idachaba was laid to rest.

At a funeral service which was held at the United Evangelical Church, Idah, Kogi State, which attracted people from all works of life, all eulogized the good deeds of the late renowned academician, describing him as a man that will be greatly missed for his contributions to humanity.

Speaking at the funeral service, Capt Idris Wada Kogi State Governor, described Late Francis Idachaba as a first class erudite scholar whose invaluable contribution would forever be missed.

Capt Wada particularly praised the contribution of Late Idachaba, when he served as the Chairman of the Blueprint Committee, a committee whose recommendations his administration is anchoring his transformation program.

Capt Wada described the Late Idachaba as an illustrious son who will be missed by the nation as a whole, said he served selflessly in different capacities, where he showcased his wealth of experience alongside other eminent sons and daughters of the state.

Wada described the death of Prof Idachaba as a loose cannon, that hits him greatly, described him as an inspiration, a prolific researcher, a great scholar, a first class thinker and a fountain of academic knowledge.

While asking that the life of the late professor be a book that should serve as guide, a path and a shining light to those alive, Capt Wada prayed god to grant the deceased peaceful repose.

The governor also urged that the life of the late Prof Idachaba be emulated in hard work,said he will reap divinely, his harvest of service as Vice Chancellor of the Kogi State University, which the governor was a divine intervention by the deceased professor.

The governor urged the nation as a whole to be consoled by the positive impact late Prof Idachaba made while on earth, and prayed God to grant the soul of the deceased Professor the fortitude to bear the sad loss.

In a related development, the death of Prof. Francis Idachaba, has been described as one that has left the nation and Kogi State in particular with a vacuum that will for long be difficult to fill.

Yomi Awoniyi, Kogi State Deputy Governor stated this at the funeral service held in honour of the late academic icon whom he described as a colossus and a rare gem.

Awoniyi recalled the role played by the late Prof Idachaba in steering the Blue Print Committee on which vision and mission the program of the Capt Idris Wada administration rest, said his death came at a time when the fruits of those recommendations the committee made is beginning to manifest in the transformation agenda of the present administration.

While describing death as a necessary end for mankind, Awoniyi regretted that the wise counsel and knowledge that the nation and the state would have benefited through the contribution of the late academic will be greatly missed.

Awoniyi also recalled the role played by the erudite professor in repositioning the Kogi State University Ayingba, and in other institutions he served as an administrator and a first class academics and researcher, said his death was not only a big blow to the state, but the world at large in view of the remarkable exploits the late Prof. Idachaba made as renowned academics.

While he prayed God to grant the soul of the late Professor eternal rest, Awoniyi urged the people of the state particularly,the family he left behind and Gov Idris Wada to take solace in the fact that the late professor came, saw and conquered in all his field of  human and academic endeavors.

Also speaking, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Secretary to Government of the Federation, who was represented by Solomon Ishaya, said the death of the late Professor was a shock to the nation, and described him as a scholar who stood tall in his contributions to moving the country forward.

Senator Anyim consoled the people of Kogi State, especially the family Prof Idachaba left behind, to take solace in the testimony of the late professor by emulating his ideals by affecting lives like the deceased did.

Rev John Oga, Area Superintendent of United Evangelical Church, earlier in his sermon, said death is gain for the believer if he lives a righteous life, urged believers not to fear death, as it an escape from lifes challenges.

The clergyman lamented the worst situation facing the nations, urged believers to seek God first,said only the message of salvation will bring peace.

Life, the clergyman pointed out is a choice, urged christians to choose faithful service to God and humanity, reminded believers that there is life after death.
