The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the Senate, Yakubu Oseni has enjoined Muslim faithful, especially his constituents to imbibe the lessons of love, obedience as they join their counterparts in the world over to celebrate the yearly event, this Friday.

Senator Oseni who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT)/Cybercrime made the call on Thursday in his sallah message in Abuja.

According to him, Eid-el-Kabir, also called the “Sacrifice Feast,” honours the willingness of prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, as an act of submission to Allah’s command, saying: “In commemoration of the festivity, an animal was always sacrificed and divided into three parts: the family retained one third of the share; another third was giving to relatives, friends and neighbours; and the remaining third giving to the poor and needy.

“The lessons of this festival are that we must love, be obedient and have absolute belief and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, giving charity often.”

He further added: “What we equally need as a nation are sincere, concerted and sustained efforts towards propagating the kind of God-consciousness demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim. It will surely guarantee our nation and for us as individuals a lasting solution to all the challenges confronting us. Our lives here will be much more peaceful, trouble-free, and the hereafter eternally glorious if we can.

“It is instructive that Allah not only rewarded the prophet in this world, but also guaranteed him eternal success in the Hereafter (Qur’an 2:30).

“Once again, I congratulate everyone of us for yet another sallah celebration. Let’s do this celebration in fear of Almighty Allah in love and care for one another as stated earlier. Live in peace, harmony and togetherness as much as possible.

“As your senator, I have resolved not to stop at nothing in ensuring that all worthy dividends that will advance the socio-economic development of our land, enhance peace building efforts are consistently tapped so that we can successfully, nip in the bud all potent threats to our peace, security and growth,” he concluded.
