Dwindling Revenue: Kogi Govt Plans to Halt Proposed Recruitment of 500 Teachers

The hopes of employable, qualified teachers in Kogi state is about to be dashed as the state government plans to abandon the proposed recruitment of 500 teachers.
Kogireports gathered that the thinking behind this decision is to maintain the current wage bill in the face of dwindling revenue. Government believes it is unwise to recruit more civil servants at the moment as it will increase her monthly recurrent expenditure in the face of shrinking revenue.
We learnt some top government officials are tinkering with the idea of looking inwards to source for the needed teachers from other ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of government. Government is convinced there are many teachers who are redundant in other MDAs.
