The Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, has warned politicians against dragging the Lokoja traditional institution and the Maigari of Lokoja into partisan politics ahead of the forthcoming electioneering campaigns.

Adamu gave the warning on Thursday while speaking at the Paparanda Square in Lokoja during activities marking the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

According to him, the Maigari of Lokoja, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, remains a father to all residents of Lokoja irrespective of political affiliation, ethnic background or religious belief.

“We must not involve the name of His Royal Highness in politics. He is a father to all,” the chairman said.

He stressed that as political activities begin to gather momentum, politicians and their supporters must avoid using the revered traditional ruler’s name or office for political gains.

“As we enter the electioneering period, nobody should involve the name of His Royal Highness in politics. Whether you are an indigene or a resident, you must respect him as a father to all,” he added.

The council chairman also spoke on the need for sustained peace, security and development in Lokoja Local Government Area, noting that his administration remains committed to improving the welfare of the people.

Adamu congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful celebration of Eid-el-Kabir and urged residents to continue to pray for peace and unity in the state and the country at large.

He also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his leadership and continued support for the development of Lokoja Local Government Area and Kogi State in general.
