Lending his voice to the travails currently being experienced by Senator Dino Melaye, the Kogi State Chairman of the All Grand Alliance Party (AGAP), Hon. Ochiji Ahmed Tijani has expressed optimism that the embattled lawmaker will be victorious.
Dino Melaye was arraigned in court by the Police over criminal conspiracy, and subsequently remanded in Police custody pending the next hearing hearing scheduled for June 12.
In a press statement made available to newsmen on Friday, Hon Tijani said the Senator is being tried for daring to speak the truth.
In his words, the ordeal of the people’s Senator is a phase in every mortal life where you need courage and wisdom to overcome.
“Dino’s singular crime is speaking true to power, but we can’t all be muzzled in a democratic society,” he said.
He urged the Melaye to take solace in the confidence reposed in him by his people who stood by him at the failed recall exercise.
“His people stood by him, neutralizing all efforts to recall him from the Senate, a pointer that he will surely come out of this victorious.
Hon Tijani also called on the youths of Kogi State to get more involved in politics, adding that the All Grand Alliance Party is providing an alternative platform for them.
