The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, has upheld the election of the Chairman, Senate Ad hoc committee on Publicity, Senator Dino Melaye, in a much anticipated verdict.
His election is being challenged by the former occupier of the seat, Smart Adeyemi, who is of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The petition was earlier dismissed on a technical ground that it was filed out of time. But the Federal Appeal court ruled that the case should be heard afresh.
According to Melaye, Smart Adeyemi’s petition was dismissed for lack of merit.
