The Peoples Democratic Party National Youth Frontiers (PDPNYF) has condemned the continuous incarceration of Kogi Journalist, Friday Ogungbemi, by the Department of State Services.

The National Coordinator of PDPNYF, Comrade Usman  Okai berated the action as described it as return of impunity and military approach to democratic governance by Kogi state government.

“The detained Kogi journalist was detained on flimsy excuses and has not been arraigned in court for almost one week now. How can a government thrive without criticism and correction from the fourth estate”, he said.

Okai accused Governor Yahaya Bello of playing the script of his master, President Muhammadu Buhari in their vain effort to gag the press and the opposition in Nigeria.
He urged media houses to enlighten the public on the undemocratic conducts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government at all levels and the need for Nigerians to retrace their wrong steps in 2019 by voting APC out of power.
He warned on the consequences of the continuous detention of Friday Ogungbemi and threatened to sue the state government. He stated that PDPNYF will hold Kogi state government responsible for any action against the welfare of the detained journalist and the family.
