The recent defection of the member representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Tijani Damisa from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been described as a good riddance.
Kogi State PDP publicity secretary, Hon. Bode Ogunmola, who disclosed this to journalists in Lokoja further described the new APC Reps member as a liability to the party.
“Worse still, Damisa has not done anything for his people. What can he boast of as his achievement in his constituency for almost seven years he’s been in the House of Representatives?
“He has in no way impacted on the lives of his constituents. It is obvious he has lost political value and relevance, and he is aware of that.
“That’s why he is looking for an avenue to give excuses for his failure. He knows that he has sunk into political oblivion and he is looking for a way to come to the limelight,” he said.
It would be recalled that Damisa, a two-time house of representatives member, had cited imposition of candidates  by the PDP leaders and factionalization as reasons for his defection.
The lawmaker had prior to his defection in Okene, written a latter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara on the floor of the House on Thursday, 5th October, 2017.
At the decamping ceremony, in Okene, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who received Damisa and his followers endorsed him for a third term.
