A High Court sitting in Lokoja has dismissed the suit challenging the emergence of HRM, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu as the Ohimegye Igu of Kotonkarfi Kingdom.

The Court dismissed the suit for lacking in merit and competence.

The judgment delivered by Justice A .O Salihu, said the suit challenging Salihu’s ascension to the throne was found to be without legal foundation.

The court affirmed that due process was followed in the selection and installation of Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu as the traditional ruler.

Recall that the deposed Ohimegye, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, had instituted a case seeking to remove Alh Saidu Akawu Salihu.

The Ohimegye Igu Kingdom, HRM, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, in a swift reaction to the judgment described the High Court ruling affirming his emergence as the Ohimegye Igu Kingdom as a “no victor no vanquished judgement”.

The traditional ruler, while reacting to the judgment, said the people of the Kingdom “should all come together for the overall development of our people and kingdom”.

He urged for calm, pointing out that no meaningful development can be attained when the people don’t work together.
