A High Court of Justice sitting in lokoja has been asked to restrain the Kogi State Government and its agent, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism from holding the first Kogi State carnival tagged ‘Confluence V Carnival.

In an affidavit in support of motion on notice signed by Geogina Edime of CeTriple F global services, is asking the court to stop the commencement of the carnival as it is infringing on their intellectual property.

In suit no HCL/94/0013, dated 30 day of October, 2013, Georgina Edime of CeTriple F global services, accused the Kogi State Ministry of Culture and Tourism of piracy and plagiarism, adding that one of the programme slated as part of the first ever carnival, ‘The Face of the Confluence’ is their intellectual property.

Geogina Edima sought the order of interlocutory injunction restraining the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism from going ahead with ‘The Face of the Confluence’, a proposed beauty pageant earlier submitted to the Ministry as a proposal in 2012.

The claimant noted that without his consent, the state government and its agent has now adopted ‘The Face of the Confluence’ as part of the first ever carnival without the approval of CeTriple F global services .

Geogina Edime said ‘The Face of the Confluence’ if allowed to go on as part of the first ever carnival will interfere with her intellectual property right and economic activities,as no valuation has been done.

The claimant then urged the court to restrain the Kogi State Government, its agent the Ministry of culture and Tourism and the Attorney General of the State who was also joined in the suit to put the programme on hold until the determination of the substantive suit.
