The concerned Kogi PDP Youth Network has commended efforts of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for cancelling ad-hoc delegates ward congresses in Kogi State.
The youth network, in a statement signed by Engr. Joe F. Mesele and Usman Okpenachi, gave the commendation after an extensive appraisal of the several development around the overhauling of the state PDP structures with a view to keeping Kogi PDP beyond 2015 gubernatorial elections.
The group commended the proactive steps taken by the national working committee of the party in their decision of cancellation of the ad-hoc delegates ward congresses of June 27th which never really held as acclaimed and the re-assurances recently promised in view of Kogi and Bayelsa state elections.
According to the statement, the youth group viewed the development as a good one just as hoped that all stakeholders in Kogi will take full advantage of this opening in the collective effort to ensure that the best candidate is thrown up at the end of the party restructuring and re-positioning for election in late 2015.
“We need brave and courageous men who will do the needful without undue interference from the state high and mighty at this time, thereby compromising the major ingredient of a solid party leadership”, the statement reads.
“We urge the NWC of our party to ignore calls, insinuations purportedly made to them in other avoid compromise against the interest of the party as the time to get all the energy needed in PDP -Nigeria is now using Kogi as a litmus test.
“To this end we call on the incumbent Governor H.E, Idris I. Wada, and other known aspirant like Comrade Mohammed Ali (CMA), Alhjaji Jubril Isah –Echocho and other would be aspirants to kindly allow for due process at the party, as we will all benefit if we succeed in keeping our state PDP with the kind of leadership a truly democratic process will throw up at the end of his important overhauling. We have no doubt in our minds that we have the best quality of men in our party and we must not watch power drift away in line with our individual greed to the same power.
