Comrade Sunday Bala Bags 2024 NANS Honourary Award

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), on Saturday, honoured four distinguished personalities at its annual symposium and North Central conference.

The confab tagged: ‘Drug Abuse as a National Threat to Nigerian Educational Sector’ held at the Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, Kogi state.

Chief Executive Officer of Sunday Bala Oma Foundation, Dr Sunday Bala Oma, was conferred with the ‘Icon of Youths/Student and Cynosure of National Development’ award of excellence.

NANS Zone C Secretary General, Comrade Ibrahim Adejoh, while presenting the award, stated that “This award was given in recognition and appreciation for his valuable contributions to fundraising outreach, excellent volunteerism, and donor developments. And for his patriotic leadership qualities as well as an appreciation for his giant strides and uncommon contributions towards students, women and youth empowerment, for the benefit of the country and humanity.”

In his response, Bala Oma thanked NANS leadership for finding him worthy of the award as the strides they have attained over the years was made possible by God Almighty, who gave the enablement.

He dedicated the award to the registered trustees of Sunday Bala Oma Foundation, the students, beneficiaries, staff as well as volunteers of the Foundation, for their selfless efforts, without which the award won’t have been made possible.

Oma admonished the students to take the message of drug abuse to every nook and crannies of the society to curb the scourge that is bedeviling youths.

Other awardees include the Vice Chancellor, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Prof. Marietu Tenuche; the Director General of NDLEA amongst others.
