Commissioner Takes Delivery of Water Treatment Chemicals for Old Lokoja, Okene Waterworks

Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya Farouk, has assured of the Governor Usman Ododo-led government commitment to provision of portable water to residents.

Farouk gave the assurance while monitoring the release of chemicals for the treatment of water to Okene and old Lokoja Waterworks.

Stressing that water challenge is a major concern for Governor Ododo, he reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring portable water is delivered to the doorsteps of the people of the state.

He announced that arrangements for the old Lokoja and Okene Waterworks to begin supply of water to residents of Lokoja metropolis and other parts has been concluded.

He added that though the Old Lokoja Waterworks may not be able to supply the whole state capital, there are efforts for palliative measures to supply other parts of Lokoja not covered by the Old Water Works.

The Commissioner disclosed that the current delivery of water treatment chemicals for both the Old Lokoja Waterworks and Okene Waterworks is a testament to Gov. Ododo’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises to provide water for the people.

He said Governor Ododo’s pledge to ensure the people have access to clean and potable water is not negotiable.
