Coal Laden Truck Crashes Into Residential Building in Kogi

Residents living around Zone 8 in Lokoja, Kogi state capital, escaped death when a coal-laden truck crashed into a residential building on Saturday morning.

The driver of the vehicle, Abdullahi Ibrahim, told our correspondent that the accident occurred he experienced break failure while trying to negotiate the bend at the junction.

Though no life was lost in the accident which occurred around 6.00am, a man simply identified as a member of a Presidential Task Force, sustained injuries and is said to be receiving treatment at a nearby health facility.

Residents of the building who were woken from their sleep by the impact of the crash were seen in groups thanking God for saving their lives.

Some of them who spoke to our reporter expressed worries over the incessant vehicular accidents around the area and other parts of the state capital. They called on truck owners to ensure their vehicle’s road worthiness before embarking on trips. They also called on relevant government agencies to control reckless driving and ensure only healthy vehicles ply the roads.
