The battle to unmask those behind the burning down of Senator Dino Melaye’s constituency projects in Lokoja took another dimension as Muslim clerics on Wednesday placed curses on the perpetrators and their sponsors.
The prayer, which was said across all the mosques in Lokoja during “Isha-i”, the last prayer of the day, was in reaction to the burning and destruction of some of the constituency projects meant to be commissioned on Wednesday by the Senator Dino representing Kogi West senatorial district of the state.
During the prayers in one of the mosques in Sarki-Noma in Lokoja, the faithful prayed that God should expose those behind the burning of the schools.
They also prayed that God would silence those who were not interested in the development of the state and its people.
One of the Muslim scholars who did not want his name in print, said that prayer was to invoke the wrath of Allah on those who carried out the act and their sponsors.
It was gathered that similar prayers will be organised by Christian community in the state on Sunday.
The source added that marathon prayers would be followed with fasting for God to visit his wrath on the perpetrators.
Those who spoke to our reporter on the attack expressed shock and disbelief that any responsible human beings could embark on such devilish act to destroying educational infrastructures in this century.
A community leader, Mallam Shehu Zoro, said what happened was not just barbaric but uncivilised stressing that some politicians are taking things too far.
“If you say you are against Dino Melaye, how does that affect projects meant to uplift the standard of education of which the Senator is just a facilitator.
“Those behind the burning of the schools and their sponsors God will surely pay them back,” he said.
