Former Minister of Culture and Tourism Femi Fani-Kayode has advised Senator Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi West) not to tremble before any man and bow only to God.

Melaye had last week jumped off a police van in Abuja while being transported to Kogi State to face criminal charges.

Following the incident, the lawmaker sustained injuries and is currently at the intensive care unit of the National Hospital in Abuja.

Fani-Kayode had condemned the lawmaker, adding that the behaviour of Melaye does not show honor, strength or class.

“A Senator should not behave like this: not even an APC one. This is not honor, strength or class.

“I deplore what @MBuhari is doing to those that oppose him, including those that put him in power like @dino_melaye,but we must face our oppressors with dignity, strength and courage,” he wrote.

On Monday, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce revealed that Melaye was asthmatic and while on transit “the police gassed him,” hence the need to force his way out of the van.

Reacting in a post on his Twitter page, Fani-Kayode said: “One thing that I have come to appreciate is that the world despises the weak and cowardly and respects the bold and strong.

“Self-pity attracts nothing but disdain and contempt.

“Strength and courage attracts fear and respect. Never bow or tremble before any man: bow to God alone.”
