Bishop Delisle College @ 40: Cosmas Atabor, Others Honoured

Member representing Igalamela-Odolu Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Ilemona Atabor was one of the recipients of meritorious awards at the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Bishop Delisle College, Lokoja held on 12th October.

Hon. (Barr.) Atabor was the Head Boy of the College in the year 1992/1993 academic session and was “honoured in recognition of his contributions to the growth and development of the college and for being an unblemished ambassador of the college”.

Speaking, Hon. Atabor stated that “I cannot forget Mr. J. E. Iruviere for his mentorship. May his gentle soul continue to rest in peace.

“The story of my life cannot be complete without Bishop Delisle College, Lokoja. This college instilled the discipline and the zeal to succeed in me”.

To support the college in tackling some immediate challenges, Hon. Atabor made appreciable cash donation to the college and used the occasion to called on the old students of the college to work collectively and sustain their support to the growth of the college.

He was accompanied to the event by the member representing Omala Constituency, Hon. Collins Attai Musa (who equally offered cash support) and APC chieftains from Igalamela/Odolu local government.

The colourful occasion featured cultural displays by Igala, Ebira, Nupe, Basa, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba student groups of the college.

The Bishop of Lokoja Diocese, Most Rev Dr. Martins D. A. Olorunmolu, Immaculate Conception Catholic Catheral, Rv. Fr. Lawrence Balogun, Special Adviser to the Governor on Assembly Matters, Hon. Haruna Yusuf, Editor in Chief of the Graphics, Mr James Oyewole, Commissioner for Education, represented by Mr. Waniko Steve, Executive Director of STTETCOM, Old Students of the College and a host of other distinguished personalities were present at the occasion.

Bishop Delisle College was founded on 7th September, 1979 and was named after a great missionary who was the first Bishop of Lokoja Catholic Diocese, Bishop Augusto Delisle.
