Be Good Ambassadors and Stay Connected to Your Root, Attah Urge Igalas in Diaspora

The supreme traditional ruler of all Igala people, the Attah Igala, HRM Dr Idakwo Ameh Oboni II has called on the indigenous Igala people in about twenty-four states in Nigeria and Abuja, the federal capital territory, to continue to be good ambassadors of Igala Kingdom, maintain their known spirit of hard work and be connected to Idah, their root, which is the ancestral home of Igala people.

The traditional leader also reiterated his commitment to the reunification of all indigenous Igala people irrespective of their locations across Nigeria, as plans are underway for the celebration of Igala National Congress (United Igala Day) in Idah, which will bring all Igala people together.

He also noted that Igala people remain the same in as much as they are scattered in various sates across the country, and that the unity of Igala people remains the major key which will make Igala tribe takes her rightful position in the country, having produced many important national figures from Kogi state and other states outside Kogi state.

This call was made by the monarch in commemoration of International Day of the World’s Indigenous People, which was marked across the world on the 9th of August, every year to protect the rights of the world’s indigenous population as well as to recognize the achievements and contributions that indigenous people make to improve word issues such as environmental protections.

The Attah expressed his gratitude to the leader of the “Discover and Reconnect All Indigenous Igala People Across Nigeria Project”, Engr Ayegba Abdullahi Aduojoh for his efforts so far in discovering many locations of indigenous Igala people in about twenty-four states across Nigeria and FCT.

He further tasked him to continue the good work until all indigenous Igala locations across Nigeria are discovered and the people reconnected to their root- Idah, Kogi state.
