Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has called on the Anebira to unite in preserving their cultural heritage, traditional values and identity, describing culture as a powerful instrument for unity, peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
Bello made the call on Friday in Abuja while playing host to a group of cultural entertainers at his residence, where he stressed the need for deliberate efforts to protect, promote and project Ebira culture to the global stage.

He described culture as an enduring legacy that connects generations, shapes collective identity and strengthens the bonds of brotherhood, warning that the erosion of cultural values could deprive future generations of their historical roots and identity.
“Our culture is our heritage, and we must not allow it to go into extinction,” Bello emphasised, urging the Anebira to see cultural preservation as a collective responsibility that transcends political differences, personal interests and generational divides.
The former governor noted that every ethnic group possesses unique cultural values and traditions worthy of preservation, adding that Ebira culture deserves greater visibility, recognition and promotion nationally and internationally.
He further stressed that cultural activities should serve as platforms for fostering peace, love, mutual respect and understanding among the people, rather than instruments of division.
Reflecting on his administration, Bello highlighted his commitment to promoting cultural diversity and respecting the traditions of the various ethnic groups across Kogi State. He maintained that peaceful coexistence among communities remains essential to building a united, prosperous and inclusive society.
Bello reaffirmed his willingness to support cultural initiatives, entertainers, associations and individuals whose activities promote peace, preserve indigenous traditions and advance the collective interests of the Ebira people and Kogi State.
He also expressed readiness to partner with individuals and groups committed to the advancement of Ebiraland and the wider development of Kogi State, stressing that meaningful progress requires unity of purpose, collaboration and sustained commitment.
On the state’s development trajectory, the former governor expressed optimism that Kogi State was on the right path towards economic growth, social advancement and infrastructural development, urging the people to remain united and contribute positively to its continued progress.
Bello’s message underscores the importance of cultural identity as a foundation for unity and development, while reinforcing the need for the Anebira to preserve their heritage, strengthen communal bonds and project their cultural values with pride to the wider world.
