The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Police Command has called on residents in Kpanche community that came under attacks from unknown gunmen to remain calm as the security agencies are determine to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the State.
In a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP William Aya, the command received the news of “unfortunate incidents in Kpanche Village, Bassa L.G.A of Kogi State where five (5) persons lost their lives and fifteen houses (15) burnt down.
“Consequent upon the news, the Mobile Police Force as well as the Nigeria Army promptly moved to the scene to restore peace and order. On sighting the Security personnel, they opened fire at them, but were vehemently resisted by the fire power of the security personnel where six (6) of the attackers were killed,” he said.
Aya stated that the Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga has ordered for a thorough investigation into the unfortunate incidents and vowed to prosecute anyone linking to the attacks no matter highly place he is so as to serve as deterrent to others.
