The former acting governor of Kogi State, Chief Clarence Olafemi, on Wednesday raised the alarm over alleged threat to his life.

He said he had been noticing strange movement around him in recent time, alleging that some people were out to assassinate him.

Olafemi told newsmen in Lokoja, the state capital that at about 12 midnight on Tuesday a woman was spotted around his house located at Aniebo quarters in Lokoja while people were asleep.

According to him, the security attached to his premises questioned the woman over her presence in the vicinity in the odd hour, and she claimed to have come to charge her handset.

Olafemi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said the woman claimed to be living in the community.

The former speaker of the Kogi state house of assembly added that all effort made by his security men to chase her away proved abortive adding that when her phone was checked there were strange and suspicious dialled numbers on it.

Olafemi said, “When we looked at her phone it was discovered that the last calls she made were to driver 1, driver 2, and driver 3. When we asked her who is driver 1, driver 2, and driver 3 she said they are the people helping her to get job said.”

“They are after my life because of my open letter to Mr. President and the governor of Kogi State of the marginalisation of Okun people by this present government of Kogi State. I will continue to say the truth no matter what, they can’t kill me, I am fighting for my people and I must talk.”

He however said the suspect had been handed over to the police for further interrogation.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kogi State Police Command, Mr William Aya, said the suspect has been moved to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
