The Secretary of the Elders Council of the Okun Development Association (ODA), the apex socio-cultural organisation representing the Okun-Yoruba people, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, has felicitated Barrister Funsho Fayomi, retired former President of the Ijumu Development Movement (IDM), on the occasion of his birthday anniversary.

In a congratulatory statement, Aiyenigba described Barrister Fayomi as a highly admirable personality and a great Okun compatriot who did the Okun nation proud through an exceptional civil service career. According to him, Fayomi occupied several exalted positions during his time in service and maintained an impeccable tour of duty throughout, anchored on the Omuluabi ethos for which the Okun people are renowned.

An illustrious son of Ijumu and pride of the Okun nation, Barrister Fayomi was described as a warm and gracious community leader who has remained consistently impactful in the community-organising landscape of his homeland over the years.

Aiyenigba noted that Fayomi is one Okun public figure whose socio-economic development impact is widely felt. He was described as a provider of jobs and economic empowerment for many, a connecting bridge between the young and the old, a model of inspiration to the younger Okun generation, and a symbol of the unity of the Okun people.

The statement further painted Fayomi as an exceptionally knowledgeable lawyer with uncommon intellectual depth, a human capital development enabler, community organiser, advocate of social justice, and promoter of the common good. He was also described as a mentor and inspirational figure to many — a builder and giver who is consistently present where needed to make a difference in the lives of people, radiating love and joy everywhere he goes.

“Big Brother” Funsho Fayomi, as he is fondly called, is celebrated not only for his endearing personality but also for his role as an ambassador of the rich Okun community spirit and a generous mobiliser for the good of the homeland, the statement added.

Aiyenigba expressed pride in his association with Fayomi, describing him as one of his most admired and esteemed Okun leaders of this era, and wished him many more decades of good life, health, vitality, peace, joy, and all-round fulfilment.
