Kogi State Governor Idris Wada has warned youths in Ibaji Local Government Area to desist from any act inimical to the fragile peace over the disputed oil well site at Udeke and boundary with Anambra State.
He said the state government was working hard to resolve the issue amicably.
Wada, who gave this charge during the visit to the local government area at Onyedega yesterday, stated that the two states were working toward the peaceful resolution of the disputed area.
He added that the National Boundary Adjustment Commission would soon resolve the dispute.
Wada, therefore, urged the youth and people of the local government area to be law abiding even in the face of provocation.
He warned them to desist from any act capable of causing chaos between the people of the two states in view of the present security situation in the country, stressing that anyone caught disrupting peace would be seriously dealt with.
The governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to provide basic social infrastructure for rapid development of the state.
Wada, however, expressed gratitude to the people of the area for their support to the present administration, stating that the transformation agenda in the state was aimed at bringing development to every part of the state.
He explained that his administration had completed most of the ongoing projects when he assumed office on January 27, 2012, noting that the projects would have been abandoned if he had embarked on fresh ones and resources would have been wasted at the expense of the state.
The governor also stressed that in the last two years, the administration had embarked on inter and intra road projects across the 21 local government areas of the state.
Wada noted that the essence of this visit, which would take him to all the local government areas, would afford him the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to the people, assess the ongoing and commission of completed projects as well as acquaint him with the immediate needs of the electorate.
He stated that the state had keyed into the Federal Government’s agricultural transformation agenda by embarking on accelerated rice production and massive cassava production.
