When the Kogi State Independent Electorate Commission (SIEC) fixed date for the local government election, it was visible to the eyes and audible to the ears that Hon. Mustapha Akaaba was going to win based on his antecedents as the administrator of Ajaokuta local government.
The good people of Ajaokuta never undermined Akaaba’s performance in the area of security, human welfare as well as infrastructural development.
The Ajaokuta-Adogo-Okene road which was a usual spot for kidnappers was being marshalled by men of the security forces aided by the people’s honourable. It was on record that Akaaba had on several occasions led the vigilantees to involve the criminals on a gun battle.
These criminals eventually left the LGA as people can now freely travel within the local government without any fear. No wonder Akaaba was recently awarded the Nigerian Grand Ambassador on Security.
Human welfare was also an aspect he never left untouched. He distributed several motorcycles to Ajaokuta youths to aid them in their various endeavors. Over 100 motorcycles were distributed across the local government to people who least expected it.
In the area of infrastructure, many rural areas were electrified. An all powerful and finance-consuming electricity project was also embarked upon as the headquarters of Ajaokuta, Adogo down to Ebiya district was connected to the national grid. This is to mention but a few.
The good people of Ajaokuta reciprocated these kind gestures towards them by electing Hon. Aliyu Mustapha Akaaba as the Executive chairman of the local government.
After his election, Akaaba has not relented as the people continue to feel his leadership acumen. Even with little resources at his disposal, he never seized to touch lives.
With him at the helm of affairs, there is a continuous reinforcement of hope for the people he leads.
