The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, has said that Ajaokuta steel is not obsolete, assuring that the federal government is committed to its revitalisation toward transforming the nation’s economy

Aganga who was on facility tour of the steel plant alongside the Minister of Power and Steel Development, Arc. Musa Muhammed Sada, stated this on Monday at the steel complex in Ajaokuta in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.

He said contrary to some insinuations, Ajaokuta steel plant is not obsolete and that it is not a waste of fund to make it functioning, adding that with the comprehensive and strategic facilities there, it is an ascent to the nation in its industrial revolution drive.

“Ajaokuta has become more important today than before, because it will now move the country in the new direction. And the president launched the industrial revolution drive of the country in February and there is no way you can revolutionalise your industry without a wider steel industry, and Ajaokuta provides an answer to that,” he said.
