ABLN Multipurpose Cooperative Society has began distribution of food items to about 1,000 households.

This was made known by the ABLN Head of Operations, Adamu Abdulmojeed in Lokoja on Thursday.

The items are; rice, noodles, spaghetti, vegetable oil, palm oil, etc were distributed to qualified members in different sizes as proceeds from the ABLN Food Cooperative program.

A programme designed to relieve households from the economic and financial pressure of acquiring food items during the Christmas and New Year festivity.

Cooperative members expressed joy and satisfaction while receiving their items.

Mrs. Aishat Gambo, speaking on behalf of the members said despite the harshness of the economy, ABLN Cooperative still made effort to meet up with the actual commodity. “I know the prices of these commodities compared to how much we contributed”, she said.

Mrs. Sarah Paul said the ABLN Cooperative Society has proven their sincerity and can be trusted. She added that with N54,000, which is the actual savings from January to December, if taken to the market today will not be enough to buy all the food items made available by ABLN. She appreciated ABLN for remaining sincere and honest despite the situation of things in the country.

The Head of Operations, Mr. Adamu said the food cooperative is so simplified that interested persons only have to register as members of ABLN Cooperative and pay daily contributions of N150/N200.

When asked how ABLN was able to achieve this milestone, Adamu noted that it has not been easy, due to the unstable Nigeria Economy tending towards the negative side.

He further said that two main factors affected the Cooperative in the year 2023; “the change of Naira Notes and Subsidy Removal has affected our target a great deal”, he said.

He promised that ABLN will continue to strive for the better delivery in the interest of the members, and that the members should please play their part for full benefit of the system.
