Former Nigeria international, Abdul Sule has stressed the need for youths to engage in sports while in school to have options in the future.
Abdul Sule, who is also the chairman of Kogi United and Confluence Queens football clubs stated this yesterday at the Federal University Lokoja while donating match balls to the Sports Unit of the institution on behalf of his foundation Abdul Sule Foundation.
He said students need to engage in sports to get confidence and face challenges in their academics just as it would also aid them to fall back on when they couldn’t get a chance to further their education.
Sule, who was accompanied to the institution by Mallam Ibrahim Odoma who is the Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Estate and Housing and a Nollywood actor cum producer, Thompson Makoji charged the FUL football team of to make good use of the balls as he was ready to cola irate with the institution to do well in the area of sports.
Prof Muhammad Audu, chairman of Sports Development Committee of the FUL who represented the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Angela Freeman Miri, thanked Abdul Sule and his foundation for the timely gesture which he believed would go along way to encourage and inspire the players to perform better in their football activities.
He noted that the institution had earmarked a specific time for sporting activities for students as enshrined in the school curriculum as he believed engaging in sports would develop the minds of the students so as to do well in their academic pursuit.
Mallam Odoma who commended Abdul Sule for identifying with the institution in the area of sports called for a strong relationship between the foundation and the school for more opportunities.
Mr Makoji who is also a youth ambassador charged the students to give priority to sports just a they do to studies as it could help them later in the future.
Earlier, Director of Sports of the FUL, Mallam Sule Okeme praised the foundation members for their visit and donation of football despite the short notice just as he called on the players of the school team to emulate Abdul Sule as they can also become a legend through football.
