Abductors of Kogi Pharmacist Demand N30 Million Ransom

The abductors of the managing director of AZECO Phamacy, Okene, Kogi State, Abdulazeez Obajimoh, has demanded N30 million ransom from his family to secure his freedom.

Obajimoh was abducted by unknown gunmen in Iruvucheba community, Okene local government area of Kogi state, on July 11.

A family source disclosed that the kidnappers called on Thursday to make demands for ransom.

The source added that the abductors rejected the offer made by the family, insisting on N30m ransom. They reportedly turned down N10m offer, calling it “chicken change”.

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Kogi State chapter, has decried the incessant attacks and abduction of their members across the state.

In a statement issued by the state chairman of PSN, Dr Lawal Muhammed said most of the monies invested in pharmaceuticals are loan from banks.

He urged the perpetrators and the general public not to see pharmacists as being rich.

He also called on the state government and security agencies to map out strategies to curb the menace.
