Rep Orders IGP, CDS to Constitute Police Patrol Team, Operation Base on Major Highway as Halims Decry Insecurity

House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Chief of Defense Staff to constitute a special armed Police team of patrol and establish a Forward Operation Base (FOB) respectively along Ojapata-Ankpa road and the Itobe-Anyigba road.

The order followed a resolution on the prayers of the Deputy House Leader and member representing Ankpa, and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims in a motion tited “Urgent need to curb the rising wave of kidnapping along Itobe-Anyigba-Ankpa Federal Highway in Kogi East Senatorial district of Kogi State”.

While presenting the motion, the Deputy House Leader noted that the Itobe-Anyigba-Ankpa Federal Highway way is currently taken over by Kidnappers who on daily bases kidnap people who transverse the road for their livelihood and demand huge ransom before releasing their victims.

He added that these criminal elements defy all the huge investments made by the Kogi State Government in securing lives and properties of adding that the need for Federal collaboration has become inevitable. Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims expressed concerns that the economic activities and other social engagements in the entire Kogi East Senatorial district is grossly affected negatively by the nefarious activities of these disgruntled criminal elements which their victims have always confirmed are non-native.

While rounding up, he expressed awareness that the current precarious security issues in the North Central States, and the relevance of the Federal highway under consideration as it relates to vehicular and human traffic within the region and other parts of the country. He then concluded that it therefore becomes imperative and urgent for security agencies to intervene and stem the tide.
