The atmosphere in and around the Lower Niger Basin Development Authority , Ilorin wore a cheering outlook as the newly appointed Managing Director Engr Olusola George-Olumoroti assumes office in grand style, today April 2nd, 2025. He was accompanied by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alhaji Abdulateef Gidado Alakawa.
In his inaugural speech, the Managing Director thanked the President, Alh Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for reposing such high confidence in him to contribute to his Renewed Hope Agenda by appointing him as the CEO of the Authority.
He promised never to disappoint the president as he promised to hit the ground running.
Olumoroti informed the crowd of staff and well-wishers that within one year of his tenure, he would have repositioned the Basin to her original mandate of ensuring food abundance and food security for the nation. He thanked the staff for trouping out in large number to accord him a rosy welcome urging them not to see him and his team as outsiders, but rather as a part of them. He promised to prioritize staff welfare but informed them of the need for them to ensure an increased productivity. He counseled them to see and handle their official duties as personal business as that is the easier way to ensure increased output that will set Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority aside as a good example for other Basins.
Olumoroti concluded that as a trained engineer with over 2 decades working experience with both NNPC and Exon Mobil, he has come to contribute his best to Tinubu’s vision for a better Nigeria. “ I shall deploy my wealth of experience to add my quota to Mr. President’s vision for a renewed Nigeria. I shall be on the field where and when necessary to see thing for myself to make sure that Basin becomes an activity hub that will benefit the staff, management, Nigeria and our host community”.
Engr Olumoroti took facility tour around Basin to abreast himself with the facilities on ground. The MD promised to resuscitate the moribund water factory and the Basin farm to ensure their optimum utilization.

The chairman of the board, Alhaji Alakawa expressed hope for a successful tenure for the new management as they were selectively appointed from various professional spectrum. He urged the new team to focus on creation of wealth while focusing on synergy with the state government for the delivery of the mandate of the Authority.
The outgoing Executive Director Planning and Design Services, Engr Oyedeji Abdulrasheed advised the new MD to exercise the habit of filtering advises very well and also urged him to be weary of the internal politics of the Basin, he welcomed him on board and prayed for his outstanding success.
