Chairman, Kabba-Bunu local government council, Barr. Dare Michael Zacchaeus, has condemned attempt by some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to discredit the recent distribution of truckloads of rice in Kogi West by Senator Sunday Karimi.

Sequel to allegations that the rice distributed to Kogi West constituents were bad, the Kabba-Bunu council chairman said it was all blackmail.

In a statement on Wednesday, Barr. Dare disclosed that bags of rice in Kabba Bunu LGA’s custody are in good condition.

He said the people of Kabba Bunu LGA are appreciative of the kind gesture of Senator Karimi, which is the third in a row by the lawmaker.

He urged the Senator to ignore mischief makers and not allow his morale to be dampened.

“Yes, we discovered that some of the rice got fermented and we drew the attention of the Senator to it. He immediately stopped the distribution and directed the supplier to replace the few noticed products.

“As I speak with you, we in Kabba-Bunu have no issues with bad rice as is being made to look. Some persons are being mischievous. You cannot use the Senator’s good intention for his people to be part of the celebration of the festive period to malign him or destroy his image,” he said.

Barr. Dare added that it was normal for a large consignment of commodity to have some defects, but blamed the supplier for the incident.

He urged people to separate mischief from the facts, pointing out that this is the third time in a row that the Senator is distributing rice. He said Kabba Bunu LGA received a truck load that now have all the items in good condition.

The Council Chairman cautioned APC members who are engaged in using the social media to create tension over the matter to desist, warning them against dragging the administration of Governor Usman Ododo into unnecessary controversy.
